Rallye Motors will be hosting a blood drive that will give donors the chance to win tickets to attend the first-ever Super Bowl in the New York Metro area with a guest.
The blood drive, held in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will take place on Nov. 13 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the dealership located at 1600 Northern Boulevard in Roslyn. It is open to Rallye employees and friends and family of the dealership.
“Giving blood is crucial and there is always a need for it,” said Joseph Stanco, president of Rallye Auto Group. “Not only can a single pint of blood save up to three lives, but it can also give you the chance to go to the Super Bowl.”
In addition to being entered to win two tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium on Feb. 2, 2014, each donor will receive a $20 Visa gift card. Donors will also receive free snacks and refreshments after giving blood. Individuals who want to donate must be in good health, be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Additionally, only those who have not donated blood in less than two months and have a positive form of ID can be admitted.
Donors are advised to eat a light meal and drink plenty of fluids before donation. To determine donation eligibility, potential donors will also have to fill out a brief, confidential health history questionnaire and will have their pulse, temperature, blood pressure and red blood cell count checked. The safe and sterile donation process will take about six to eight minutes, during which donors will be seated comfortably.
Rallye Motors and its employees recently teamed up with the American Red Cross to participate in the unique Ready When the Time Comes program, in which corporations and community groups train designated members as disaster relief volunteers. Rallye’s support of the Red Cross is part of its ongoing charitable initiative to give back to the Long Island community. Rallye also lends its support to the St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital, Swim Across America, Relay For Life, Roslyn Little League and many other non-profit organization based in or with local chapters in the dealership’s backyard.
